MIDDLEBURY, Ind. — Youngsters realize their family members may help build them, writes Jon Gard in The Elkhart Truth. They see them rolling down the streets and parked in lots by the hundreds, sometimes as far as the eye can see. They may even have a sense of the important role the industry plays in the community.

But until RV Day on Wednesday, many of the teens and preteens in the Middlebury Boys & Girls Club had never seen a recreational vehicle up close.

“This is really nice,” Gavin Hilary, 14, said as climbed into the sleeping quarters of a J Flight Micro Baja Concept trailer with his friends.

Several Thor and Jayco brands were parked in the lot at Middlebury Community Schools.

About 140 children climbed aboard and looked at the various features, according to Jim Pinkerton, director of Public Relations and Marketing, Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County.

“This is a good opportunity for the kids to see and learn about RVs in a hands-one way,” Pinkerton said. “And it’s a lot of fun.”
