Owners’ Weekend: Royal Flair Caravan Club of Australia

There are various caravan clubs around but, when it comes to one that is both unique and rewarding, the Royal Flair Caravan Club Australia offers a lot to its members. With Royal Flair marking its 50th anniversary in manufacturing, the club, which has more than 1000 members, celebrated its 10th anniversary at Yarrawonga Holiday Park, Vic, in March.

At each yearly event, the club raises money for the Mark Hughes Foundation for brain cancer research, and this is in memory of a great member, Dave Proust, a bush poet extraordinaire who passed away from the disease.

The first ever event was held at Nagambie Lakes, Vic, with 28 vans attending. This was followed by events at Phillip Island and for the past two years, the club’s owners’ weekends have been held in Yarrawonga.

This year, the club had 52 vans attend – the biggest and best year ever. The Friday evening saw a big welcome and sausage sizzle and on the Saturday, various fun events were held, including a ‘furry friend’ parade, judging of the ‘best presented’ Royal Flair van, and a visit and talk by the CEO of the Victorian Caravan Industry Association, Daniel Sahlberg.

On the Saturday night, the gathering enjoyed a two-course dinner provided by Royal Flair, plus great entertainment by Ron Sinclair (Fireman Ron), and raffles and auctions of items provided by club sponsors and RV parts suppliers.

Bill Deralas, the owner and CEO of Royal Flair, along with his family enjoyed the event and, as Bill described it, it was very memorable.

“It was an absolute honour to be at the Royal Flair Owners’ Weekend in Yarrawonga, celebrating an incredible milestone – 50 years of Royal Flair Caravans!” Bill told the crowd. “I am so proud to be part of this fantastic community of loyal customers and caravan enthusiasts who have supported us throughout the years.

Dawn and Kelvin Bowers travel in a Royal Flair Micron. They have been to every club gathering since its inception.

“This weekend has been a beautiful reminder of just how far we’ve come, and it fills me with pride to see so many of our caravans on display, each one representing the craftsmanship, innovation, and dedication we’ve poured into every model. It’s humbling to meet so many passionate owners, hear their stories, and see how Royal Flair has become a part of their lives and adventures.

“As we celebrate five decades of excellence in the caravan industry, I am deeply grateful to all our customers for their trust and support. Your enthusiasm and loyalty are what continue to drive us forward. I’m looking forward to the many more years of Royal Flair caravans on the road, and I’m excited for what the future holds for all of us in this wonderful family. Thank you all for being a part of this milestone celebration! Here’s to the next 50 years!”
